Injuries are mainly caused by overloading the back and/or lack of exercise. In both cases, the spine starts to lose flexibility and movement becomes restricted.
Excessive or constant stress on the intervertebral discs causes the fluid they contain to leak out. As the intervertebral discs gradually dry out, the distance between them decreases, leading to friction, often resulting in a pinched nerve or even destruction of the intervertebral discs.

- Weak back ligaments
- Weak back muscles
- Worn out joints
- Damaged intervertebral discs
