1. What makes the SpinaliS chair so special?

Because its seat is movable in all directions — with every move and leaning of the body the seat moves itself simoultaneously together in the same direction with the pelvis and the spine. This coordinated movement makes sure that both spine and pelvis are continously in their right position.

2. Why should everybody have their own SpinaliS chair?

Because of the active way of sitting the muscles are active all the time. Thus they are constantly being strengthened and are taking off the burden from the spinal discs and the vertebrae. This prevents at the same time injuries of the spine and pain in the spinal area. We can enjoy life in its full measure only with healthy bodies.

3. Sitting on the SpinaliS chair seems to me to be very unstable!

That is true. The first impression is of course very unusual, because we are used to normal chairs with a fixed seat, on which we are sitting with relaxed back muscles, which on the other hand is leading to spine injuries. The main idea of the SpinaliS chair is to sit as on a therapeutic ball, where the body has to maintain balance all the time. This is indeed for the first couple of hours or even days somewhat straining — yet after a few days the body adapts to it excellently.

4. If the muscles are active all the time, then you are at the end of the day even more tired than sitting on a usual chair!

At the first glance and during the first couple of days this really seems to be the case. This is similar to running a marathon race without being in the right physical shape for such a task — just imagine how you would feel the next day after such a race?! It is similar with the SpinaliS chair. The body needs a few days to get used to active sitting, but when it gets used to it, sitting on the SpinaliS chair becomes a real pleasure and even ten or more hours of sitting isn't a problem anymore. But what is most important — after an entire working day our back is not hurting, because now strengthened back muscles have taken over the critical task of supporting the spine.

5. Is there medical confirmation that this chair really 'works'?

Throughout the world there have been conducted many clinical tests with therapeutic balls, which are the initial idea for the SpinaliS chair. All of these tests have shown that active sitting is the only useful way of sitting, because with the simultaneous movements of the pelvis the muscles are activated and thus improper movements of the back are prevented, which otherwise could cause pain and even back injuries.

6. How long will it take for me to get used to this chair?

This depends on the present physical condition of your back-supporting muscles. In most cases the first adaptation phase lasts several hours, the second phase on the other hand can take from several days to two weeks — until the muscles get strong and take over the task of supporting the spinal column together with the entire back. It needs to be mentioned that after two or three days there can appear a slight pain — sore muscles — this usually lasts one or two days. This is a normal reaction to activity and is an excellent sign — it means that the previously inactive muscles have become active and are taking over the role as supporters of the spine. After this phase sitting on a SpinaliS chair becomes an immense pleasure.

7. Is this chair appropriate for daylong sitting on it?

It is not just appropriate! For all those who have to sit more than two hours on a daily basis this chair is even recommendable, because it prevents pain and injuries which can occur as a result of lengthy sitting on conventional chairs with a fixed seat. This chair is especially recommendable for growing youths, who have from year to year to sit ever longer for studying or in front of the computer. Because of this inevitable fact their back muscles are lacking in motion activity and combined with their quick growth in this stage, those muscles aren't anymore the much needed support for the spine.

8. Who is manufacturing these chairs?

SpinaliS chairs are the result of Slovene research and the entire production (with the exception of two elements) takes place in Slovenia. The patent holder is Tomaž Ham, the owner of the HAM d.o.o. company from Ljubljana. The company, with the help of cooperators, is producing the chairs itself.

9. Do you recommend the chair even to people with a damaged spine?

To all potential users of SpinaliS chairs who have an already damaged spine (severe injuries, spines which have underwent surgery, people with exacting diagnoses) we always recommend that they seek advice with their orthopaedist, who is to advise whether the condition of the patient is already allowing the use of a therapeutic ball or a SpinaliS chair.

10. What about maintenance and service?

SpinaliS chairs do not need any special maintenance. If necessary we can wipe them with a wet cloth using a mild detergent. All vital parts and the entire construction are made of metal, which significantly minimizes the possibility of damage and thus ensures an exceptionally long durability — at least 10 years. Because the entire production is taking place in the EU, a potential damage or disfunction will be repaired immediately or in a few days the most — after we receive the chair at our production facilities. Please consider also the required time for transportation.

11. What type of warranty comes with this chair?

For all SpinaliS chairs we give 3 years warranty. Unfortunately we cannot grant the warranty in case of damaging the textile with a sharp object. The anticipated life-span of SpinaliS chairs is 10 or more years.

12. Why is this chair more expensive than other chairs?

On the first sight this chair really may appear to be more expensive, yet it is impossible to compare SpinaliS chairs with other chairs who do not offer the ability of active sitting. Comparing them would be like comparing red apples with tomatoes, which are on the first sight similar because of the red color, yet after the first bite all the difference becomes apparent. Unfortunately good health cannot be purchased. However it is possible to invest in buying a chair like SpinaliS and start living without back pain. SpinaliS has been tested and the opinions of thousands of users confirm its value and price. It is true, the price is not negligible, but when compared with the value of your health this investment becomes affordable and even small. Consider the value and price of health today — how much do we have to pay for every session with the physiotherapist or for a medical intervention as a self-pay patient, not to mention the long weeks of absence at work and thus connected loss of income?! Good health and a pain-free back are actually worth all the money of this world. Ask people who are suffering, or have suffered, from back pain. Normal life as they have been used to it has stopped for them. Because of the pain they cannot sleep, their work and career are heavily challenged, sport activities are under question. Ask them whether they would be prepared to invest into such a good chair as SpinaliS to prevent their difficulties!

13. Is this chair really so 'miraculous'?

Unfortunately it isn't, yet it is true that in the great majority of cases it reduces the back pain or even does entirely away with it. This chair is worth much more than you will pay for it!
