The construction idea of a chair with a movable seat seams to me to be extremely important for the cause of prevention of degenerative processes of intervertebral discs. As a result of the constant movements of the sitting surface the back muscles have to move as well. Thus the spinal column and the intervertebral discs are not strained onesidedly, but the burden is being evenly spread over the entire intervertebral space. I recommend such a chair as a prevention of spinal column problems to all who have already an injured spinal column or suffer from back pain or pain in the loins and other parts of the spinal column, yet in particular to those who have to sit a lot, especially on their workplace. I think this represents a significant preventive measure for the reduction of problems with the spinal column.

I am using the movable chair SpinaliS at my work in the eye clinic and during eye surgeries. During my work in the clinic I perform many moves which are especially strainful for the spinal column in the loin area. The high agility of this chair enables the seat to follow the movements of the spinal column. In this way the chair disburdens the strain in the small of the back and distributes it evenly. My experience with the SpinaliS chair is that it provides indirectly a strengthening of the back muscles and at the same time represents a relaxing exercise during many hours of sitting.
The high agility of the seat adapts its position to my body during surgery sessions and facilitates my access to the surgery area.
My assistants are using the SpinaliS chair too and are as well having a very positive opinion about it. While sitting on it they are constantly forced to activate the whole spinal column and all back muscles. During the last decade the industry has produced all kinds of chairs (kleki, gugu chair) and auxiliary devices (therapeutic ball, wedged pillow) to enable us to sit longer without pain. We have frequently to interrupt our sitting and change our sitting posture. These long sitting sessions occur for example when we are listening or watching (in that case our back is leaning on the rest and the sitting surface is leaned backwards) or writing (our back moves away from the backrest and the sitting surface is leaned forwards). The pelvis plays an important role in the sitting process because with its every leaning the position of the spinal column changes too. Therefore we have to take care of the strong body muscles which can ensure that the distance between the pubic bone and the breastbone remains always the same (during all types of sitting) — we are not to allow this distance to shorten for example by bending our spinal column as a result of getting tired.
The sitting ball as well as the SpinaliS chair make a constant moving of the pelvis possible, which is extremely important, because a proper posture of the pelvis and the spinal column influences our breathing and digestion, strengthens the muscles of the pelvis bottom and furthers a proper body posture and body balance.

Our society is becoming more and more a sitting one. Our children sit in school as well as at home. The sit while doing their homework, they sit for several hours in front of the computer and the TV. The same applies to adults and aged people. Thus we are slowly abandoning an active body formation.
If we want to feel comfortable during sitting we have to strengthen those muscles which are supporting the spinal column. We also have to support both natural curves of the spinal column. To achieve this it is important to sit in a proper way — which means at the same time to sit actively. Especially firstgraders indulge during extensive sitting in an improper posture. Years of such sitting habits also develop a constant improper body posture. And there we have the danger of becoming one of many patients with a damaged spinal column. It is being now for a considerable number of years recommended to sit on large elastic balls. Sitting on such a ball activates the body to seek and maintain an equipoise. This process again is strengthening the before mentioned muscles. The constant movements, which are inevitable when sitting on this chair, strengthen the back muscles. At the same time the vertebrae and the intervertebral discs are evenly burdened. The active sitting prevents injuries. I recommend this chair to all persons who have to sit for long hours, especially if they have to sit in an incorrect and unnatural body posture.

The SpinaliS chair is an excellent ergonimically designed solution. During a centered working posture the seat (which is placed on a spring) demands a constant adapting of the paravertebral muscles, of keeping the equilibrium and thus of an upright body posture, which at the same implies a permamnent activity of the paravertebral muscles. Sitting in a backward position (resting position) is providing the most ergonomical solution of sitting in a resting position.
From personal experience I can confirm the huge advantages of the SpinaliS chair compared to other work chairs. I suffer already for thirty years from pain in the back. In the last 12 years I had three major episodes of lumboischialgy which I treated with physiotherapy and with constant exercising. Half a year ago after such a last episode I decided to undergo disc surgery. The purchase of the SpinaliS chair is one of the better decisions in my life. As a company director I sit every day in my office and in meetings up to 10 and even 12 hours. Before the purchase of SpinaliS I have had back pain almost every evening. The feeling was coming up in me that this cannot go on like this anymore. The SpinaliS chair with a movable seat is more than just a chair. With its adaptability it allows every user to sit in a posture most comfortable for him, yet at the same time this chair guides the user into the correct body posture.
The "active sitting" on the SpinaliS chair furthers the constant and evenly distributed activity of the back muscles. This improves the muscular tonus and strengthens the supporting muscles. The dynamic sitting effects also positively the blood circulation of intervertebral discs and thus protects the spinal column from injuries resulting from long-term sitting on conventional chairs. The SpinaliS chair differs essentially from all chairs I have seen till now. It requires active sitting as well as makes it impossible to have an improper posture while sitting. Sitting on this chair resembles to a certain degree recreational activity: the back muscles are all the time under slight tension and active, movements are facilitated and after a longer period of sitting I feel like after a moderate recreational activity and not anymore stiff and tired after a long forced body opsture. A certain time period though is required to get used to sitting on a SpinaliS chair, yet one is also very soon aware of its positive qualities.
I value the SpinaliS chair as a revolutionary high quality product, which can essentially minimize the effects of extensive sitting.

The idea of being able to perform straining exercices for the back while I'm sitting in front of the computer is excellent. Thus I'm able during my leisure time to lie on my couch without having a bad conscience and, of course, without back pain. I also think that sitting on this chair substitutes for abdominal muscle exercises, because it also engages the muscles of the lower part of the abdomen.

I'd never thought that back ache would ever be an issue for me. I was playing ten years rugby, I was several times Slovene junior champion in discus throwing, I had a master degree in martial arts and was three years member of the "Gaia Legend" sailboat crew.
Four years ago the first pain appeared. It lasted for about half a year. After six months the pain reappeared. This scenario reoccurred four times. In august 1999 surgery became inevitable. The diagnosis was: two cracked intervertebral discs in the loin area.
Not being active in sports anymore I started three years ago a business in which I'm sitting a lot, which again is not good for my spinal column. Back ache has occurred already after a few hours of sitting, so I had to make often breaks. This on the other hand has cost me a lot of time, concentration and will power. When I finally started using the SpinaliS chair, I was initially skeptical for I had it all enough already. Yet after only a few hours of sitting on it I was pleasantly surprised because I was able to forget my pain and to dedicate myself to my work. Sitting on this chair is active which is good for the spinal column. Beside of that I now do not have to be all the time still — which is a hard thing to do for us sportsmen.

My troubles with my back began when I started snowboarding. More and more often I had this pinch in my back, sometimes I ended up almost unable to move at all. Later on those problems occurred also during other physical activities. Thus I learned that I belong also to the sort of people who have to be a little more careful with their back. Beside exercises specially designed for strengthening the back muscles I also tried SpinaliS. Before that I used to be very undisciplined when sitting — I preferred to sit in an entirely bent body posture. The back muscles are in such a body position entirely relaxed — the entire upper body weight is thus resting solely on the spinal column. Extensive sitting is in such conditions only worsening the situation. But SpinaliS isn't allowing such an indiscipline anymore. The back muscles are during the use of a SpinaliS chair constantly in use and active, thus they are being strengthened even during sitting. They are at the same time carrying the load which the spinal column had to carry before. Of course, SpinaliS isn't a magic cure, yet it certainly is a huge step towards a healthy spinal column.

I am doing gymnastics for 20 years now. 1997 I fell from the horizontal bar and injured my spinal column. One intervertebral disc bursted, another one got jammed. My sports career was put under question. I refused surgery because it would have seriously limited the agility of my spinal column. With different therapies I succeeded to sanify the injury to a certain level, yet I never was sure when and where my back would "pinch" me again.
I learned by coincidence about the movable work chair from SpinaliS. Initially the use of this chair seemed to me to be pointless, yet soon I felt a relief. I am five months pregnant now. Because of the pregnancy I have had severe pain in the loins. The pain has started during the first three months of pregnancy when I had to lie constantly in bed due to a high-risk pregnancy. Office work is far from easy as some people may see it. Yes, it is true that the nature of this work is pleasant, but eight hours of sitting every day and a bad body posture are a great harm which we are doing to our own spinal column.

Year and a half ago I felt for the first time what it is like when you can't get out of your own bed. After thorough examinations the physicians stated the following diagnosis: hernia disci L5, S1.
After several months of different therapies the pain only became worse. It was suggested that the last option for the improvement of my condition was surgery, yet even after the surgery the pain and other neurological disorders remained.
Last year in august I learned of the development of a chair for proper sitting. I received a prototype for testing. I have this movable orthopedic chair now for already half a year.
